Hi Ppls,
I'm trying to figure out the points value for a PLAIN dosa, the type you get when eating out. WW, does have points values for masala dosa, but I need the points for just a plain dosa. Anyone know the ingredients for a plain dosa?
Thanks!
Stats on ONE cup of basmati rice: Cal: 180 Fat: 0 Fiber: 1
Stats on three cups of Basmati rice 3X= Cal: 540 Fat: 0 Fiber: 3
Stats on ONE cup of Urad Dal: Cal: 347 Fat: 1 Fiber: 1
Add them up = Cal: 887 Fat: 1 Fiber: 4
Let's divide this by 15(if this made 15 dosa's), just for a worse case scenario: Cal: 60 Fat: 1 Fiber: 1
Now, this would equal ONE WW points. I'm a bit skeptical about this though. Im going to go to the Dosa house and see if they tell me how they make their batter -or my nutritional stats could be very off, I should go to the grocery store and look at the nutritionals on the label for urad dal, as I think it would have more fiber.
So, for now its 1 WW points, but I would seriously say it would be more, maybe around 6 WW points. Ill continue to research this and get back to you :-)
ratio of urad dal to basmati rice (most of the time is 1 to 3)..so for 1 cup of urad dal, you would use 3 cups of basmati rice
ReplyDeleteThanks! I wonder how many dosa's would be made out of 1 cup urad dal and 3 cups basmati rice.
ReplyDeleteI would say about 20-25 if its thin and big..
ReplyDeleteHey Alka,
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome. OK -Ill get calculating away :-)
did you figure it out.. I am curious :)
ReplyDeleteHey Alka,
ReplyDeleteSorry for the delay. So, here is what I figured:
Stats on ONE cup of basmati rice:
Cal: 180
Fat: 0
Fiber: 1
Stats on three cups of Basmati rice
3X=
Cal: 540
Fat: 0
Fiber: 3
Stats on ONE cup of Urad Dal:
Cal: 347
Fat: 1
Fiber: 1
Add them up =
Cal: 887
Fat: 1
Fiber: 4
Let's divide this by 15(if this made 15 dosa's), just for a worse case scenario:
Cal: 60
Fat: 1
Fiber: 1
Now, this would equal ONE WW points. I'm a bit skeptical about this though. Im going to go to the Dosa house and see if they tell me how they make their batter -or my nutritional stats could be very off, I should go to the grocery store and look at the nutritionals on the label for urad dal, as I think it would have more fiber.
