Happy Hump Day and Eats

Hellooo and Happy Hump Day!

How are you all doing? I hope you're still keeping up with your resolutions? So far, in doing really good. I'm keeping up with work outs and making a great effort to eat right :-)

Yesterday, I made it to the gym and completed 30 minutes on the stair master, did 25 sit-ups and the following for strength:

Dumbbell curls: 12.5 lbs. 3 sets of 12 reps
Lat pull downs: 60 lbs. 3 sets of 12 reps
Arm fly:  50 lbs. 3 sets of 12 reps

My diet has been pretty clean as well. I'm on a vegan challenge with a coworker for the next two weeks and my meals have been loaded with veggies, healthy fats and complex carbs. Below you'll find a few pictures of my meals.

How are you guys doing with your resolutions?

Beans with wild rice and walnuts

Vegetarian tacos with guacamole, salsa, shredded cheese, beans

Back On Track...

Hey Hey Peeps,

You probably got the drift of this post by its title, it's a Back On Track post.   Yes, yes, I know, it's been a while since I've blogged but I now hope to bring you motivational tips, healthy recipes and some decent workouts :-)

With summer just a few months away, everyone is working hard to get in shape and eat right.  The only thing that works for me is regular exercise and a balanced diet.  When I say balanced diet, I mean a healthy portion of plant fats, complex carbs, lean protein and fruits/veggies at every meal. I know when I stray away from this and consume too much sugar or processed foods, it makes me feel sluggish and harder to lose weight.  So, now I'm making a conscience decision at every meal, to eat right and exercise at least 4-5 days a week!

How do you stay on track? What are your fitness and food goals for getting back on track?

Yesterday's Workout...

I recently renewed my gym membership at the NYSC. I love the NYSC for various reasons, the main reason being there are so many locations to choose from.  I also love the array of different classes they have to offer.  Lately, I'm really loving the Total Body Conditioning Class.  This class is an hour long and you give your whole body a workout with the use of a body bar, free weights and stepper.  Yesterday I was bummed that I missed the class, so I decided to do my own mini Total Body Conditioning workout.  Here's what my work out looked like:

  • 20 minutes of cardio on the treadmill
  • 50 bicep curls, with 10lb weights
  • 50 squats, with 12lb body bar
  • 30 lunges, with 10lb weights
  • 50 crunches
  • 50 ab lifts, with 12lb body bar
  • 50 leg ups, each side
  • 35 side crunches, with 10lb weights, each side
  • 25 chest presses with 20lb bar
  • 25 leg ups
This workout took me about an hour to complete. I do think I need to modify this because when I come out of my body conditioning class, I can usually feel the soreness.  Yesterday....not too much :-p

Are you guys getting your workouts in?
