Back On Track...

Hey Hey Peeps,

You probably got the drift of this post by its title, it's a Back On Track post.   Yes, yes, I know, it's been a while since I've blogged but I now hope to bring you motivational tips, healthy recipes and some decent workouts :-)

With summer just a few months away, everyone is working hard to get in shape and eat right.  The only thing that works for me is regular exercise and a balanced diet.  When I say balanced diet, I mean a healthy portion of plant fats, complex carbs, lean protein and fruits/veggies at every meal. I know when I stray away from this and consume too much sugar or processed foods, it makes me feel sluggish and harder to lose weight.  So, now I'm making a conscience decision at every meal, to eat right and exercise at least 4-5 days a week!

How do you stay on track? What are your fitness and food goals for getting back on track?

Monday Morning: A weighty issue...

Good Morning All,

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I know I had a fun filled, exciting weekends! I had an awesome evening down the shore and had a great time with great friends!

This morning I woke up and weighed myself and saw the scale read 137.8...YOWZA!!! So, I went away for a few days towards the end of June. For five days I really did not watch my diet, but I did manage to get a work out or two in. For five days I pretty much ate as much as I wanted and whatever I wanted. Those five days were enough to throw me off track once I got back. Yup, I never really returned to a regular workout program and I never returned to eating a healthy diet most days of the week. So, I completely understand why the scale reads six more pounds than usual. As my clothes are getting snug and my energy levels have slightly gone down, I feel it's best to get right back on track and start eating and exercising like I use to! I still have a month and a half of summer left and I plan on enjoying it to the fullest!

At the end of the day what really works for me is eating right and exercising. As far as eating right goes, following the Cinch! principles is what has really worked for me. Yes, each meal must consist of: lean protein, produce, plant fat and whole grain.

As far as exercising goes, I'm still in love with INSANITY. In fact, I last left off on the last week of month two. I'm now going to go ahead and start INSANITY all over again. That mean it's a Fit Test workout today! I just love the intensity of INSANITY. I love leaving a workout dripping in sweat and knowing I've accomplished something I thought I could never do. As grueling as INSANITY is, time flies by each workout.

I'm happy that I'm realizing now that I must get back on track. The old me would have been so discouraged that I would have continued on with my bad habits and let things spiral out of control. Now, I'm more realistic about things. Why did I gain weight: I continued to eat junk and not exercise. This was all my doing, but it's OK since I know what I need to do to get back on track.

Alright, so I will be documenting my exercise and eating habits. If any of you out there need to get back on track, hopefully you can join me or look to this as inspiration. At the end of the day it comes down to two things: eating right and exercising. You can do this!

How did your day go?

Today was another great day of eating right and exercising. I started my day off with a hearty bowl of oatmeal which I make with 1% milk and sprinkle cinnamon in. Lunch was a side of roasted brussel sprouts and grilled cheese sandwhich, which I made out of two slices of Ezekiel bread and two slices of light provolone cheese. I also add sliced tomatoes to this. This lunch seriously keeps me full for a few hours. My snacks were an apple and a low fat plain yogurt with cinnamon stirred in. I also got my 30 minutes of cardio in today. Yay for me!! Day 18: Just 10 Challenge -My slip up

Day 18 of the Just 10 Challenge was not too great from lunch onwards. First of all, I did something that I had not done since starting the challenge, which was mindless snacking. This was not a little mindless snacking but I had quite a few sweets w hile talking to co workers. That was mistake number one. Mistake number two I ate a lot of Indian food last night, and this was not the healthy type of indian food. Mistake number three: I did not go to the gym. This morning I was very afraid to get on the scale, but I did and the weigh in was an extra pound. Now, not so bad, but when you think that I have not lost any weight in a few days and then I go ahead and gain a pound...that hurts. Of course I know what I did wrong and everyone has their slip ups, but I need to stay focused. The good thing, I'm realizing this now, when I've only gained a pound, instead of realizing it after gaining the five pounds that I lost back and then losing total motivation! Also, on a side note, I realized after eating all that junk food yesterday, I did feel a bit funky... So, we all mess up, but the key is to get right back on track right away rather than wait!

Getting Back Together...

Hey Guys, So, I know it's been a terribly long time since I've posted. I know, I've slacked and I'm sorry. What have I noticed? Well, when I was constantly blogging about my weight loss experience, I was focusing more on my diet, due to feeling more obligated to my readers. Since I've stopped blogging, I also noticed I stopped caring about my diet more. Yes, the little pieces of chocolate here, the extra spoonfuls of ice cream there...well these things have really taken a toll on me. Well, I'm not saying I've gained a dramatic amount of weight...only about 5 pounds, but it's still a difference that I've noticed. I've realized that I get a lot of support from my readers and I'd like to continue blogging atleast 4 days a week. Share my experiences, my ups my downs and not only help you along your journey of a healthy lifestyle, but also having you help me. So, with this said, how about we try reconnecting once more and help each other out this time!
